Bach and a musical dialogue<\/h2>\n<p>On January 24th, 2018, Frederick II celebrates his 306th birthday. Let&#8217;s celebrate with some fantastic free sheet music for &#8220;The Musical Offering&#8221; and the story behind it!<\/p>\n<p>And it really is quite a story, all about Frederick and Johann Sebastian.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, without the music-loving King of Prussia, we would have missed out on a genius piece of music by J.S. Bach.<\/p>\n<h2>The Musical Offering<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe Musical Offering\u201d is a collection of keyboard canons, fugues and other pieces of music around the following theme:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forte-notensatz.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/768px-The_Musical_Offering_theme.svg_.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7465\" src=\"http:\/\/www.forte-notensatz.de\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/768px-The_Musical_Offering_theme.svg_.png&quot;\" alt=\"morevoices-menu\" width=\"70%\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 1747, J.S. Bach was invited to try out the latest Fortepianos belonging to King Frederick II.
